Bob Marshall Field to Host 2010 American Legion State Tournament

The DGF Post 397 American Legion Baseball program has been awarded the 2010 Minnesota State American Legion Baseball Division II Tournament. State Department Baseball Officers selected DGF at their spring meeting held in Litchfield on April 4, 2009.

DGF's Bob Marshall Field (in Dilworth) will be the site of the annual 8-team tournament that brings the state's District champions together for the right to advance to the Central Regional. The Division II State Tournament is a single elimination tournament with consolation play.

Minnesota has two divisions of Senior Legion Baseball, Division I and II. Division II consists of schools who have enrollments under 400 students in the top 3 grades. The Division I Tournament brings 16 teams together for a State Tournament at a different site. The Division I State Tournament advances a team to the Central Plains Regional and then to the American Legion Word Series.

The late Bob Marshall (Dilworth) was one of the key players in starting the Division II State Tournament in Minnesota in 1989. The Division II State Runner up trophy is named after Marshall.

The 2009 Division II State Tournament will be held in LeSueur with the Central Regional in Milbank, SD. The 2008 Minnesota Division State Division II Champion was Jordan.
